Recently I’ve been pondering on the importance of sleep, the value a good nights rest can hold. It turns out that it’s the crux of a wholesome day. I know that there are several posts out there explaining the benefits of a good nights rest, I wanted to keep mine personal and touch on points that I believe haven’t been explored completely.
I never valued sleep highly and always just either got up early or slept in, I never hit that balanced spot of 8 hours, until recent. I’ve now started get a full uninterrupted 8 hours, from start to finish. And the effects are quite spectacular. I’m able to do much more throughout the day.
I’m trying to stay off screens a whole hour before I sleep and a whole hour after I wake up. This works wonders on the eyes, as they can get time to wake up without feeling overhwelmed by artificial light. With this in practice I tend to stay less distracted in the morning, and I’m able to plan my day strategically.
Another thing I’ve found while having a full nights sleep is the feeling of being less stressed / anxious. There seems to be a different type of calmness. Sleep is literally the time our mind, body and soul gets to rest. Away from all the noise. I’m feeling much more focussed on my goals and what I want to achieve.
Protecting my sleep is one of the most important self-help principals I’ve taken out.
