A must see in Reykjavik.

So if you've been following me on Twitter you'll know that I recently spent a week in Iceland. It was one of them pick up your bags and go kind of holidays, my initial intention was to hunt for the northern lights, due to the weather I unfortunately did not get to see them, more on that later. So the capital of Iceland is a beautiful small city called Reykjavik, which is bursting with personality also more on that later. One morning I found myself with a few free hours and decided to roam the streets of Reykjavik, it was then when I came across the Reykjavik Art Museum.

The Reykjavik Art Museum is definitely something would recommend if you ever find yourself in the country of fire and ice. There's a lot of great pieces on show and I was privileged to see some of the fantastic work by artist Monika Gryzmala. Her latest piece 'Envoi' is created by using the three dimensional black adhesive tape. By exploring the space around her, she has managed to create a truly stunning piece of art. Gryzmala stated that all of her work initially begins as ink drawings on paper and then transferred into exhibition spaces. By using black adhesive tape she manipulates spacial areas to convey thoughts and feelings through her work.

If you ever find yourself with a few hours free in Reykjavik this is definitely a must do, they also have two more art museums located around the city, as I was short on time I didn't get the chance to visit all three. On the ground floor you'll find yourself a great little bookshop with both English / Icelandic literature. I found Gryzmala's work very inspiring to the eye, a truly wonderful display of art! Check out the rest of the museum pictures below...
